Notes About The Poem

Written with my young cousin Brandon, who posts amazing snippets of prose or free verse on Facebook.

This is one of them that I reworked into a poem.

The Waning of Dreams

And those were the times of our lives,
the late nights and restless dives...
Hope given one shot at a time,
a nickel a tale, a lie for a dime.

And those were our lives of the times,
a charade with partners in crime,
the fading of twilight's last beams
as we watch the waning of dreams...

Love this great write. When looking back on youth I see similiar, great times, many mistakes but a life full and well lived. A super 7 on this my friend. Congrats to both authors,.

Alas, in life what ought to sustain us, instead bears witness to our demise. This poem certainly prompted reflection, as only well written lines can promote.
