The Waiting
I didn't think I would get this far,
But, here I am walkin' the hall.
She's in the other room giving birth,
To our child, so meek and small.
Now I have to step up to the plate,
Because it rests on me.
The food, the clothes, the shoes, and more,
And all that activity!
We have to pick a name for one,
That's a burden only we can carry.
I hope it's a boy for all this talk,
Because she really likes the name of Teri.
Now it will be more than just the name,
We'll have to save for college too!
And if it is a girl...
Pay for a wedding? What will I do?
It drives me crazy with all these thoughts,
Of the things that may one day be.
And I haven't even found out yet,
If I am a New Daddy.
It's my dilemna, I'll live with it,
As I keep crossing up and back on this floor.
I just hope that when I hear the news,
I won't go screaming for the door!
