The Visit
Today as I visit ~ this place of grass and stone
I trace your name ~ as I stand here alone
In the air I smell the presence ~ of a cold winter rain
Each visit I make ~ causes heartbreaking pain
Dark clouds move in ~ and the sky turns black
I kneel down and cry ~ as the rain pounds my back
I see white roses ~ placed beside a white stone
The pureness of innocence ~ their aroma alone
A streak of lightning ~ flashes across the dark sky
Lighting images on this field ~ as my eyes start to cry
I stare at the marble ~ feeling lost by myself
As an image of you ~ passes by with a smile
A cool breeze blows in ~ as snowflakes start to fall
Goosebumps take their toll ~ as the cool air turns raw
I look to the sky ~ with tears in my eyes
I call out your name ~ in whispering cries
As an emotion of delight ~ sends me what I crave
I return my sight ~ on the stone and the grave
As my visit ends ~ I kneel and kiss the stone
Then I wade through the snow ~ to my car all alone
Looking back I see ~ two footprints below
There side by side ~ There in the snow
As I enter the highway ~ I feel your presence dissapear
Whispering I love you ~ as I shed a tear
