The Unwritten Rules
“The Unwritten Rules”
By James De Matteo
There are some things when we bond,
They’re guidelines in which I am fond.
Things like such,
Of those I care about so much.
As we bond you shall never have another at your abode,
This pain bears such hurt causing my heart to explode.
I ask you don’t cheat whether it’s physical or just close touch,
I would never do such things to you because I know it hurts much.
To know that I give my heart to you & you play such games,
It’s like people to you are just names.
I shouldn’t be treated with such disrespect & hurt in this way,
This causing my heart to want to leave today.
I know about those who beg & plea,
I know for sure that’s not me.
However I do ask you not to try & hide,
It’s not fair to keep this from me as I remain by your side.
There shouldn’t have to be laws so you know what’s right & wrong,
These concepts should fill your heart like a song.
Don’t get me wrong I won’t be perfect I am still man,
I just know I’m going to try the best I can.
Society & change cause people to turn dark,
Believe me when I tell you my bites bigger then my bark.
I watch & look around at this corruption surrounding in our world,
With commitment looked at through marriage & nothing more,
I just know in my heart I only want one that’s you for sure.
I shouldn’t have to be your puppy follow where you go,
Nothing goes that way this I know.
If you must tear my heart out do it gently too,
Don’t stomp on my heart with a shoe.
The sad part about it all,
You’re the one who’s supposed to catch me when I fall.
If you must follow someone else do it respectfully & break,
Don’t begin doing it while my heart’s still at stake.
I cry when think of you with another,
I can only hope dearly you keep me as your only lover.
These are just things that shouldn’t have to be said,
I just figured you should know what prevents me from relaxing my head.
