The Twinkle

There was a twinkle in your eye
Each time you looked my way
I wondered what you were thinking
As I slowly walked away.

II had seen you here and there
And you were such a handsome man
I wondered if you were single
That would be just grand.

You finally said hello to me
And my heart just nearly stopped
I think I felt the earth move
Who would have ever thought?

You asked me out on a date
And of course I had to say yes
We had a wonderful time
Who would have ever guessed?

Each day we spent time together
Became the most pleasant thing
Neither of us could possibly have known
The wondrous joy it would bring.

We married and settled down
And I became your wife
We had two lovely children
And we had a pretty good life.

Now our children are all grown
And have children of their own
Because of that twinkle in your eye
Who would have ever known?
