The Truth

The truth stood downcast in the lie
of the reality of you and I.
I was committed to a life with you.
I had taken marraige vows to prove
my love.

The truth stood downncast in the lie.
You did not care for me at all.
You simply attached me to a ball
and chain, in order to gain
my respect.

The truth stood downcast in the lie.
In the end I would have died.
But the love deep in my heart
for our offspring from the start
kept me alive.

The truth stood downcast in the lie.
Until I broke free from the prison of you.
Now my truth can shout out loud.
My sham marraige in a shroud.
Dead and buried.

This is a great write, Jean. Heartfelt and honest. Good luck in contest!

My past is catching up with me in my poems lately Daniel. My muse must be ready to smack him about a bit.
