The Truth

The Truth

Words cut deep
deeper than any blade,
Yet I smile,
laughing at the things you say.

You do not see,
never knowing the real me,
I see the truth,
that which is better left hidden.

Just one question to ask,
why are we friends?
The reason that you tell,
because you care for me.

But that is a lie,
you care for the picture I present,
the false smiles,
and hollow laughs,
but this is the truth I keep.

Welcome to PoetrySoup Elizabeth. I know this is a late welcome but, I have had some very pressing matters going on. I hope to be back and at full speed in the next week or so. Until then please keep writing and sharing your poetry. Love, Carol
