The Tree

Awakened from sleep,

Dark and cold,

Strange pitched voices, 

remnants of something old,

The tree stands twisted and creased,

The cage at its base,

Many strange feelings,

Sickness born of this place,

Dream of death by fire,

Acts of shame and despair,

All the tree inspired,

Now just memories, 

Feelings from long ago,

Legacy of the tree,

I have come to know
