The Transfiguration

Evening fast was falling As Peter, James and John Accompanied their Savior Sense of weariness forgone As they climbed a path on the mountain That led them to the place Where a manifestation of His divinity Left its illuminating trace While Jesus bowed in lowliness Upon the stony ground Suddenly, the heavens opened God’s glory was all around His holy radiance descended Enshrouding Jesus’ slight form Divinity flashed through humanity His Godlike countenance was born Besides Jesus appeared two beings Standing in the light of glory bright The outlines of Moses and Elijah Seen so clearly in the night Clothed with the light of heaven Christ, the King of Heaven stood Before the crown, must come the cross Followed by the role, Priesthood. © Copyright Maureen LeFanue 2007-2012
