The Tower

A long walk away
In a dusty recess in my mind
In a polished drawer
You will find
A picture of you in a fortified tower
A picture framed in a glorious hour.

You smile at the lens
A genuine smile; not one of your lies
And your eyes sparkle like clear water
Stipped of pretence
Shown out of disguise.

In this picture you love me
As I loved you
In that hour
In that tower.
