The Touch of Life
I remember the time when the sun shone bright
When my feet would dance late at night
I remember what it was to smile
To walk through woods mile by mile
I’d find such joy in a forest glad
Grin at life from that trees shade
But a fateful day my soul was brushed
By something that turned my joy to dust
My world turned dark as a starless night
And I shied away from all that’s bright
Hatred built in my very core
Rising up like satanic spore
‘Twas a tidal wave of black and red
And from my very pores it bled
A thing of bitterness, anger and hate
Is all that’s left stood in my place.
And the thing that turned my soul to dust
It was the pain of a love lost.
