The Tortoise

To be a big tortoise, old and wise His house is his shell and his disguise Deliberate and quiet, he values no prize Taking only enough to thrive and survive War, hate, and color not seen through his eyes We think we're smart, the old tortoise is wise. Feb 19 2017

Hello Daniel ... like all animals, its all about survival. It's us humans who are indulgent - thank you Daniel - Lindsay

I tend to agree with your poem somewhat, for animals, like humans, have their dark side, and Nature, if one looks carefully, is anything but a Disneyland. I have written poems on this subject but more in keeping with the "true" nature of animal behavior. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting on my work. Best to you in your writing endeavors. / M

Thank you sir and yes I agree, nature is definitely brutal at times. I think there is already enough darkness in the world, so I like to present a lighter side when I can. I appreciate your insight and do hope I have not offended you.
