The Torment of the Bard

The bard has the songs for the ears of the crowd
He knows what they like and he knows what they need
For money and fame he still burns to the ground
It’s sad that his misery gives him his greed.

The strings glorify our gorgeous kings
And maiden who saves own heart for one knight
The crowd cannot see that the bard has the wings
It waits he will sing about winners in fight.

Performance is over he’s taking his room
The door must be save his illusions and dreams
And he is like dead man that sleeps under tomb
He wakes up again with the nightmare and screams.

The morning is taking him out from the town
New crowd waits his show for its ears and eyes
His wings put him up, but the crowd takes him down
He sings as they think they don’t know that he cries.

Interesting. Take it he is trapped. Is this one a warning or a sad commentary. Really like second to last line. Glad you are still with us on the soup. Your poetry matters. David from NZ
