The Tolling Bells of Injustice

THE TOLLING BELLS OF INJUSTICE

Today
injustice runs wild
where liberty once bloomed
sweet flowers of liberty.

Today
rogue life hawkers
like famished vampires
roam child filled streets
seeking desserts of red velvet
blood of sable fruit
to satisfy their fascistic appetite.

Today
we march to the sound
of the death bells of justice---
oblivious that once tolled
it cannot be undone:

Today
another strange fruit
has been nipped in the bud;

Today
the tongue
of the freedom bell
has been eviscerated.
