The Things They Did Not Say

"The LORD giveth and HE taketh," they say No one said that your space will be left to decay None can fill it Some are too short or too small Very docile or just too tall They did not say that you would hover around the stain of your lipstick on my drawer It's earned its place Like a badge of honor on a dead hero's dirt stained door They did not say that you would remain To lace our sweet memories with plain pain I stare at your photo Swimming in moments of your quirky smile and hilarious mishmash of colors called "style" You may not be part of the living But you are thriving, sometimes watching Behind that invisible veil Of course, they will not say that
