The Thief

The thief broke in my secret place,
And he did it with a touch of grace.
The crook had no use for keys,
For the thief crept in with ease.

My sentry was on duty,
Yet the bandit took my booty.
The thief had found a way,
To take my goods without delay.

The crook seized my hidden things,
Without a hint of what theft brings.
For to me my things were gems,
And all I do now is condemn.

The thief took my grief and pain,
It seized my worries without shame.
The bandit was not done with me,
It took my sadness and set me free.

Do you know how long love stays?
