The Thanksgiving Feast
The Thanksgiving Feast
By Elton Camp
However far the children roan
For the holidays, they’re home
“Mom just loves to cook,” they say
Because she’s always done that way
So back they all come with a grin
Though not a one offers to pitch in
Mom started cooking a day ahead
Thus she barely got to go to bed
Bellies full, the children are groaning
Behind her smile, Mom is moaning
“Store sales open soon,” they say
Leaving her, they’re on their way
A horrible clean-up, alone, to face
A look of dismay on her wrinkled face
“This abuse next year I’ll refuse.
I’ll be away on an ocean cruise!”
“When they find that I’m gone,
These wretches will be on their own!”
