The Takers Change Christmas

There are takers, and they can ruin the season. Teaching their children to get on all the Christmas lists. Yelling at the do-gooders who bring toys but no receipts. Showing the do-gooders children what appreciation does not look like. Their children are embarrassed, realizing their mother’s behavior is unkind. Recognizing a bully when they see one. “Don’t bring us anything else without the receipts!” Mommy yells at the do-gooders heads As they leave, disappointed that they brought their children to try to see what generosity and giving is supposed to feel like. Sadly they are leaving with a different feeling entirely. Written 12-14-2019 Contest: The Darker Side of Christmas Sponsor: Richard Lamoureux

Did you know the Puritans who set foot on our shores did not celebrate Christmas? It's one reason they left England – they were persecuted by the Anglican church! BTW, you will look for it in the bible till you're blue in the face, but you won't find the word Christmas (nor Xmas, few knew what the X stands for). The truth is the founder of christianity did not command his birth to be observed, only his death! The bulk of christmas traditions stems from pagan sources. / M

I do not doubt this. Christians do love Christmas though, I think we started it too and most of us like some of the pagan ways. I am a meditator, and a hypnotist. I am pretty sure my pyromaniac ways stem from witches way back in my history. Pagans do not bother me. I greet them as friends. Witches creed is "to no one do harm" .

Oh, yes, in the darker side of Christmas giving is replaced with the phrase: What will I get? A well written poem that make one think dearest, Caren. Good luck!

Thank you Demetrios. We gave out a turkey with all the trimmings once to a family but the mother did not bother to cook it because it would have been "too much trouble".
