Listen to poem:
The Sunset Was a Mirror
The Sunset Was a Mirror
David J Walker
The sunset was a mirror
Simply reflecting the path
Already traveled
There was no looking back without
Looking forward
There was no looking forward without
Seeing the past in the silhouette highlights
Of Peak-End revisions of delight
*
My Peak-End revisions of life
Sift the shaft from the
sugar-coated yearnings
The sweet to my vision
the shaft to the burnings
Rearranging the rubble into
a bright shining lie about
Who
Was
I ?
*
Starlight
Star bright
The first star I see in
Second sight
Becomes my guiding star
Tonight
*
Some days I
carry the everyday weariness
With me unwilling to lay
My burdens down for fear
Of losing them as the
Trophies of my dissolution
