The Sun Must Set To Rise
Pale lingering light horizon to define
twilight's last vestige of mighty sun's shine
Moonlight shadows in star diamond sky
in night veiled moonlight go stealth passers-by
Whispering woods radiate foreboding dark night
this silent black void embraces sheer fright
Charcoal trees inky black invite abounds
nocturnal eyes prowl for prey with no sounds
Deserted paths pine in night's eerie dark
distant hill laments the scourged dog's bark
Temperature falls softly in mid-winters deep freeze
still the soul burns hot in nights chill cold air breeze
Amber glow to golden orb expectant sun's rise
gently moon and stars now hide in blue skies
Patiently waiting for nights darkness to appear
to once again play, when humans disappear

Collaboration Poem
Lingering light dwindles among the horizon
Twilight fades with a farewell from the sun
Shadows disappear as stars sprinkle the sky
with the moon illuminating those who walk by
Woods appear so much more ominous at night
silent blackness causing an overwhelming fright
Trees are like charcoal-inky blankets all around
as nocturnal animals hunt without making a sound
Country paths seem lifeless in eerie dark
occasionally disturbed by a guard dogs bark
Temperatures fall with the mid winter freeze
people feel the chill with the cold air breeze
Day light sneaks in as the sun begins to rise
the moon and stars hide away in disguise
Patiently waiting for the darkness to reappear
so they can play again, when humans disappear - Silent One 2015
