The Sun Beneath Our Feet

somewhere in this longest night
in darkness of deepest plight
somewhere under my feet
deep deep under the street
deep through the crust and core
to the other side of myth and lore
the sun shines on crust below
its rays warm and brightly show
a day, a sunny field
deep underneath our feet
as we yield
to the inevitable turn of hope
as the sun from beneath
slips around a slippery slope
of time rotating light to dark
whilst our dawn arrives with lark
announcing a new day
a new beginning
with the light
always winning
