The Struggle
For a moment I close my eyes
Listening to my bleeding heart that cries
My impulsive thoughts roll like thunder
I stand in awe and constantly wonder
Will I die sober and clean
Or is this life an unexpected dream
Wishing this roller coaster would come to an end
Is God my only friend
I hear the rain beating on the tin
Calming me also is the whispering wind
My mind is raging like the unrelentless tides
Feeling everyone's toxic vibes
I hope and pray for instant relief
But the clock ticks sluggishly in unbelief
The golden rays are peering through the clouds
With a hand reaching to me covered in a shroud
The voice inside me pleads for a chance
Celestial angels presenting a spiritual dance
A spark of hope twinkles in my eye
Just for today, I will not die
