The Street Dog

The street dog

I saw a dog on the street
which didn’t appear very neat
it looked like an abandoned pet
whose owner was in great debt

I saw a dog on the street
which was very scared but sweet
Bad boys threw stones at it
but it only barked and never bit

I saw a dog on the street
which could do well with a treat
but it was very lonely and sad
which made me feel very bad

I saw a dog on the street
which had a scruffy coat and sore feet
because it had to run a lot
and didn’t have a hiding spot

I saw a dog on the street
which was sick from the dust and heat
once it guarded its master’s house
but now its life is in chaos

There are many dogs like that on the street
who could all do well with a treat
but people hardly care for them
this is something we should condemn

Thanks mam . Benedict is my 8 year old son who has written this poem. Benedict is a gifted child who writes good poems and stories. In India you find many dogs on the street and all his feelings are expressed through his poem. Thanks for liking the poem. regards Elizabeth Benedict's mom
