The Still of the Night

As dusk overcame the small castle town two rivals prepared for a grand finale fight, the warriors won’t quit the fight ‘til one is down, so off they rode into the still of the night. The horse’s hooves clapped against the cold cobblestone and the shrill sound of steel being drawn rang out, in the distance a pair of crows had flown, came to watch the men in their ‘bout. There in the town square the dance of death began, metal on metal sound sang out into the otherwise still air, each mortal trying desperately to honor their clan but the heroes could not tell the outcome of their affair. The two swung at each other for what felt like an eternity, neither gained any ground nor lost their grasp, they both landed a fatal blow at once and they prayed to the Trinity, they prayed together for the first time as they took their last gasp.
