The Stars Fill the Night

the stars fill the night moonlight dances amidst shadows we have retired to the backyard where fireflies dance our world has come to rest the day is fast closing somewhere palaces are in celebration people lost in banquets and dance sharing unending conversations searching for joy, a moment of laughter here we sit hand in hand lost in the silence of each other while fireflies chase their dreams i have but one the day's final kiss holding you until sleep takes me knowing the day's greatest joy awaits as dawn breaks across the horizon you will fold into me good morning my love hysteria as our lips meet somewhere they are cleaning the palace OKC 7/27

A great write Timothy. Fireflies for me, be they in a poem or story, are synonymous with a beautiful silence and tranquil nights. Your juxtaposition (is that the right word here? - If not contrast) of 'people lost in banquets and dance' (my favourite line in your poem by the way) with the sitting hand in hand in silence helps really capture the precious moments you so skillfully describe. Your poem has depth and atmosphere Timothy - It could well be a scene from a film. Cheers - Gary

thank you Gary....yes juxtaposition is the correct word....silence in love is when all the exchange of language has accomplished Love's quest....the absolute God-given joy to simply rest in Love's purpose....Grace surrounds us...Love permeates....Love is the step into that which frees us from ourselves

Your lips celebrate the light of your relationship better than any palace.
