The Stairway

I find myself standing
in the middle of a stairway
spiraling ever so perfectly
I can go either way

As I look downward
I face an abyss
but looking upward
I am drawn to the mist

I stop for a moment to ponder
this staircase that's winding
with amazement and wonder
and again I start climbing

The more that I climb
the more the stairs wind
up to Heaven's gates
where my destiny awaits

Some steps are missing
others cracked and worn
but at the end of this stairway
I will get my reward

So as I keep climbing
each step made with love
eventually I will get there
up to Heaven above

Very descriptive. The philosophy that life isn't a straight assent is a good metaphor. I enjoyed reading.
