The Spring That Never Came

With the evening the silence returns
I can see from the patio door
How the setting sun slowly burns
On the photo you took a year ago
Here’s our past, with all it maintains
We were desperate to get this place
Dreaming out our elaborate plans
Discussing it face to face
Now it’s over, so nowhere we are
But I need to know, can you tell
Why did you go that far?
"My love, I just felt not well…"
