The Sound of Youth

The sound of youth to me, Is akin to a babbling brook, Shaded by the mature trees, Until it is ready to emerge, Bubbling with enthusiasm, For all the expected adventures to come, On it's journey toward seas yet unseen, And unknown, That promise great things, For those that can take the rough with the smooth.

"The sound of youth is akin to a babbling brook." I'm smiling, because this thought makes perfect sense to me. To always be child-like. So wonderful indeed, in many ways. This is beautiful, uplifting and magical, all at the same time. Thanks for sharing, David. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Thanks Brandy. For the kind words and the hug. Never too old for a hug, although I am 68 and may never feel old. See my grandson most days. Hope you have plenty of poems left to write. once I get a phrase idea for poem it is written in my head and ready to type. Of course I have been fortunate with plenty of life experience/opportunities. I'm looking forward to the magic of Christmas. Enjoy your week, David in NZ

I got inspiration for this one as I was getting on a bus and saw a group of girls by the bus stop laughing together, having a good time and babbling like a brook. I don't think I have quite lost my youthfulness yet. Thanks for the vote of confidence. We are at the beginning of summer here but the weather is almost sub-tropical in the Wellington region. Can grow a lot more things here compared when I first came up from Christchurch. Stay safe and well David in NZ
