The Sound of Silent Pain

Do you hear that?

That’s the sound of a man
Slently in pain
Again

That’s the sound of a man
With nothing left to gain
Astray

He goes a walkin’ where the sun doesn’t shine
He don’t talk ‘bout what he left behind

That’s the sound of a man
Silently in pain

That’s the sound of the train
Runnin’ on his pain
Again

That’s the sound of the train
Running away

His mouth is shut because a nobody’s listenin’
He goes a drowning in the lakes that don’t glisten

He goes a drowning in a drink that don’t glisten
But his true drink in his heart is still missin’
Listen

That’s the sound of a man
Crying out in pain
Again

That man is bound
So very far away
That train

He’s so gone he’s so long
From daylight
From some fun or someone
In his sight

That’s the sight of a man
Silently in pain.
