The Sound of Silence
A couple of years ago, sad to say,
There were bad words and to my dismay,
A couple in our village stopped being our friends.
We would pass the Taverna in the square,
All they ever did was sit and stare,
We both felt they didn't care.
We wanted so much to be their friends,
Fear of rejection stopped making amends.
Sadly one of them died, we wept for the loss.
Not invited to pay last respects,
We both feel like life's rejects.
Silence has pervaded our lives since then,
Will continue until I don't know when.
Probably because I'm a stupid old goat,
Who is too scared to step out of the boat.
