The Sojourner's Prayer

Forsake me not, oh Lord I pray.
Turn not Thine ear from me.
Give me the strength, give me the courage,
To do what I can for Thee.

Give me the love, to love my brother,
And love my sister, too
To love everyone that You have loved
Your love is all that will do.

Give me the faith to trust in You
And never doubt what You have said
Give me the protection You want for me
When I’m awake and asleep in bed.

Give me Your joy, Your joy, dear Lord,
And please let it be my strength.
To travel with You down whichever road
Whichever road, whatever the length.

Give me Your grace, and meekness, too,
To face what I must in life.
And forgiveness, Lord, and double of that
To keep out every bit of strife.

Finally, Lord, one thing I must ask,
This last thing I must ask of Thee,
Give me Your Spirit, to dwell inside,
And please, Lord, oh please let it be.
