The Snow Covered Bridge

The Snow Covered Bridge
A snow covered bridge with on footprints in sight
A picturesque place for a rendezvous night
He stood in the cold till the cold got to him
Then he turned and left with feelings gone grim
On the opposite shore someone was waiting
Bundled up in the cold and anticipating
She too saw the bridge with no footprints in sight
And thought to herself, this would not be her night
Too lovers unwilling or maybe afraid
To take that first step to the plans that they made
And maybe it wasn’t a bridge after all
But simply the failure to make the first call
