The Smile That Stole Her Lover
THE SMILE THAT STOLE HER LOVER
The smile that stole her lover
Was unplanned, but not forgiv’n---
Combination that it held
came somewhere south of heav'n
The smile that stole her lover
Was as thoughtless as spring sun
And the lethal charm it held
Had deadly powers
of its own.
The smile that stole her lover
Never wavered from his face
(No woman’s trust is ever gained
Observed from second place).
The smile that stole her lover
Was not intentioned bad
But broke a selfish woman’s heart---
As lover morphed to dad.
