The Sleeping Giant

The sleeping giant stirred Turned over on one side The world was engulfed By an abnormally high tide. Tectonic plates quivered The whole world gave a shake Before finally settling back With just a few minor quakes. Now totally relaxed The sleeping giant sleeps on And until he next stirs The state of peril is gone.

ooh...this was a great one, Terry! I could feel the angst. A fave for me. I experienced an earthquake in 1980 Eureka California. For my hubby and I, a new and scary experience. Getting out of bed was not an option in the middle of the night, in the darkness. Our ironing board fell out of closet-I thought someone broke in. My hubby was awakened by a light outside- heard later that happens with quakes.

Gosh that must have been frightening. The last quake of any size in the UK was in 2008 - caused a bit of damage but we felt the house shake and heard a loud bang, and it was nearly 100 miles away.
