The Sky

Last night in a dream I went soaring
Till I truly believed I could fly.
Now the precipice threatens to tempt me
And I’m so near the edge all I see is the sky.

I’ve been drawn to the brink of the chasm
And I gaze at the depths from on high
As if gravity’s law was suspended,
Standing so near the edge all I see is the sky.

So I’m asking the obvious question,
Fearing vertigo’s dizzy reply:
Do I dare the attempt to step forward
When I’m so near the edge all I see is the sky?
