The Silent Rock
He is very smartly dressed
'Sir', you might hear him being addressed
No one would even think he might be distressed
His smile does not hint that he is stressed
Yet he has just learnt his daughter is clinically depressed
At a loss he is, completely clueless
A hero to his daughter he ought to be
To have his progeny look up to him with eyes so hopeless
Unable to fight the enemy now faceless
For he is completely powerless
'Worry not my dear', his wife says
I will be with you all the way
And this dragon for our daughter we will slay
Dead as a door nail it will lay
For I believe in you, she says
With loving eyes he looks at her
This wonderful creature believes in me, he realises
For with absolute resolve in her eyes
Her love, support and belief in him manifests
And with a sigh of relief he hugs her
Inhaling the scent that is uniquely hers
A plan of action he formulates
On how to aid his ailing daughter
Noting the subtle changes in her spouse
A prayer slowly into the sky drifts
For she now knows
That all will be well in her world.
