The Silent Rain
My thoughts of you are fewer now each day.
Has time begun to heal my withered soul?
I know that time begins to fade the pain,
but can’t imagine when I’ll have control.
The rain falls and it trickles down the glass.
I trace the drop as if it is a tear.
The silence sometimes deafens me, but now,
it is a peaceful silence that I fear.
Some pieces of me still I cannot find.
I’ve searched all over but to no avail.
I looked beside the garden path we walked,
but could not find me there along the trail.
I stand beside the window looking down,
as birds dash in and out between each drop.
I contemplate the distance to the ground
and walk away, yet wonder why I stop.
My thoughts of you are fewer now each day.
Has time begun to heal my withered soul?
I watch the rain in silence as it falls,
in hopes, somehow, today will find me whole.
