Listen to poem:

The Silence of a Morning Snowfall

The Silence of a Morning Snowfall
David J Walker

There is a darkness over
The far side of the park
Named winter

Waiting for its snows to
Find a place to fall

Very still I stand
in the window
Over the windowsill and watch

As the large flakes fall
bowing Spruce branches
bound by a contract
Of silent servitude

I watch the silent world turn white
On a November morning

The silence still lingers in the halls
Of a building no longer calling young
Scholars to classes

Silence multiplied by distance
Silence divided by fractured light
The silence of a morning snowfall
