The Shadows of Victory

In the shadows of the demons I’ve slain,
Lie men, dead, at the hands of glory,
To strive, to win, to defeat the dragon,
Was my greatest failure,
For in the sound of his cries,
Lied missed moments of unconditional love,
The demons I’ve slain,
Have shadows that haunt me,
For in their defeat,
Was a pride that must die someday,
For in their defeat,
Was a pride that must die.
