The Shadows of My Inner Self

The shadows of my inner self
containing gold of hidden wealth
of skills but dimly glimps’d within,
the shadows. Of my inner self,
I wonder now, how to begin,
discovering what is held within
the shadows of my inner self,
containing gold of hidden wealth.

Hi David, :) triolet is one of my fave forms.. :) and you executed it so well with so much messaged within the lines.. Shadows connotes somehow on some dark side but here you portray shadows as somehow not always dark but of lights.. :)! and that's you.. :)! nice! but then don't with hold.. :)let those shadows shun.. :)!//olive eloisa

Hi Olive, thanks for your kind comments. I have just completed writing a book entitled Illuminating the Shadow, which looks at this theme from different perspectives. We need both light and shadow to provide meaning to life. :)

Thank you for your kind words Funon. I had to spend time working on this triolet, which is not a form I was used to. Bright blessings David

Very profound and philosophically oriented poem that asks questions unable to be easily answered! My friend, David, first of all we have to shut our earthly eyes and open wide our soul's! Only then and in absolute silence the whisper of the divine will become a thunderous voice for us to hear! Having asked the questions though, you have already covered half the distance! Excellent write and a seven! Welcome my friend!

Thanks Demetrios....I have very much enjoyed your poems too. At the moment I'm on the last chapters of writing a book called 'Illuminating the Shadow', which is why my interest in this theme is so strong.
