The Shadows I Feed

After vows I uttered many moons ago.
Arose two shadows more greater than Van Gogh.
Out of the darkness and into the light these two
shadows grow taller after every sunset delight.
When night follows and their away
these so called shadows
Cloud my dreams with sweetness and light.
With hope someday they will fancy me
without mindfulness spite.

I have read this poem a few times and I am intrigued, it's beautiful and well written, but I cannot figure out what is behind it. Which is nom problem :)
