The Shadow of the Mare

She walks through darkness with sullied grace In negligee sewn with silk black lace Her hair it falls down as autumn red She’s with pagan rites of us to wed Let us slide the deep shadow of doom And I’ll ride the mare upon the dark moon We’ll hide like angels shamed and fallen Let us abide by our faith stolen Beautiful soft creature of the night Combining pure darkness with sharp fright Our thoughts as one and of instinct whole Without conscience, nay without a soul You are my Lilith as I am Caine Your pulse a smooth current through my veins Open your vessel for us to drink Prepare for the new towards the brink
