The Shadow

I am looking now at all that's been.
I've been left barren - without a friend.

Betrayal has ripped into our lives
Wearing simple but tricky disguise.

Our family will never be the same
Though we struggle through and play the game.

The kind we play when trying too hard
To make what's wrong right, and hearts restored.

Effort alone won't make things anew
Lord, we need total healing from You.

We lost in the destruction of sin
The hope of any good we can win.

Please, show us it's not all just a loss
But that something's to gain from this cost.

When all's said of this hard adventure,
With Your transforming grace, Lord, ensure

Justice and mercy redeem all of those
Who lost their innocense when hate arose...
