The Second Ear

I must discern with my heart
If I would have ear
Beginning with the attitude
I should learn to hear
The meanings of others' words
With many hidden parts
The plain and straight forward
The feelings of their hearts
For within the center of mine
There is the second ear
That interprets and understands
Thoughts that become so clear
To perceive and to reason
To recognize what's implied
Though it's not well expressed
But wisdom is justified
For knowledge will come easy
If I but comprehend
I conclude correct responses
And acquire at the end
The true art of listening
Which will reveal and portray
Their intents, motivations
And what the Spirit has to say
