The Seagull

Debonair, suave fellow In your morning suit of grey and white Orange beak and feet to match Eyes of sapphire beads Why waste your time Staring into parking lot dumpsters Fly far away to where you belong Soar high with the wind uplifting you Look down at the jewel of an ocean Let the sea spray fall on your face Sit proudly on a slippery rock With the slapping surf at your back Scream out for all to hear And let your shrieking be heard From lighthouses and islands Rocky coast and secluded inlets They are your home, your domain For now and forever

We just took a trip along the Oregon coast, our little grandson loved feeding bread to the seagulls, and they would dive down and almost grab it out of his hand. They do like a free meal!! :) Carrie

I love seagulls but they never honored the cease fire when I waxed my car. Must be republicans. God Bless. Vince

Valerie - Very beautiful poem about a very misunderstood and remarkably famous bird - I don't think any other bird has such a wide range of opinions regarding it - When I see one I see a symbol of peaceful beauty but my best friend thinks they are rats with wings - I reckon its all in eye of the beholder - God Bless
