The Scriptures

The Scriptures “12Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?” Mark 12:24 NIV There’s no other book so potent To elevate the human thoughts; Provide vigor for the faculties; Keep the mind from becoming out of sorts. The Scriptures give a nobility of character And stability of purpose; Must not be a hasty read, But rather meditation of verse. Prayer is essential Before opening The Scriptures. We all need the Holy Spirit’s message Revealed from these wordy pictures. If at first they don’t make sense, Just persevere my friend. Then you will find The Scriptures, Your mind and heart will transcend. The Scriptures will speak to you When you pray and persevere. Suddenly your mind will open up And The Scriptures will become clear. Study with small groups Can help you to comprehend. The treasures of The Scriptures Are eternal, without end. You don’t need to read the entire book Or even a whole chapter, But meditate upon certain verses And ask the Lord to open up His treasure. Claim the promises as though They were meant for you and you alone. Open up the those Scriptures Your heart with heaven’s to atone. Copyright © Maureen LeFanue 2012 www.maureenlefanue.com

WOW Maureen! A lovely poem filled with great advise about studying the Word. So true that some think the Bible can be read like a novel front to back. I tried that many years ago and needless to say, I failed. My small group has been valuable as I learn more and prayer has been the key to opening up my eyes. May God continue to bless you as you write for Him. Rhonda
