The Savior Came Down
(song poem to the music of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by Charlie Daniels)
The Savior came down from heaven
because He had a world to heal
healing the blind, turning water into wine
making the devil cuss and squeal.
He came across a group of men
all set to stone a woman to death,
When they asked for His opinion
He sat back and took a deep breath.
He said,"Which one of you is without sin?
if you are then cast the very first stone,
but if you can't lay claim to that
I suggest you leave the woman alone"
CHORUS
Now Jesus came down to pay the debt that we could never pay,
to triumph over death itself and rise again on the third day.
If you ask Him He'll come into your heart and guide you every day,
but if you don't you're headed the wrong way.(end chorus)
Then the devil tempted Jesus
with a sneering, evil hiss.
He said,"Jesus, if you'll bow to me
I'll give you all of this."
But Jesus said to the devil,
"Get behind me you old snake,
you're future's been laid out for you
and it's the firey lake."
So the devil called his demons
and said, I'll spoil His plan,
Just who does He think He is
being called the Son of Man?
So the devil gathered his power
and began to plot and scheme.
I'll get Jesus crucified, he said,
then I'll listen to Him scream.
(REPEAT CHORUS)
But Almighty God hd other plans
for His One and only Son.
God sent down His Holy Spirit
and the devil had to run.
God knew that His Son, Jesus
was going to set the pace.
Because the devil's way meant destruction
for the whole human race.
God's Son would pay the debt for sin
owed by every man.
It was all part of the details
in God's redemption plan.
The devil screamed and cursed
because he now saw his defeat.
As he watched redeemed believers
lay their sins at Jesus feet.
So now you have a choice to make
if you want to be free from sin.
Jesus paid the price for you
so don't you let the devil win.
Jesus laid down His life for you and for me
just open up your heart and you will be free
Broken hearts and lives Jesus can mend
then the Holy Spirit can dwell within.
