The Sand Trap

TAWNY PERIL! Grasping at a fair mistake Grinding to a dusty fate Guarding Heaven at the gate To gaping aspiration CLINGING LIE! Inertly you ignore my plea Cloud each endeavour heedlessly Refuse to set my pale mote free To certain consummation DUSTY TERMINATOR! I know some demon dispossessed Habituates your grainy depths To cause me unrelenting stress To rob me of my sure success To terminate my swift progress And mock me … for I am obsessed With this infatuation But suddenly … on some caprice At last you tender your release But … Inexpedient to the end To gritty Hell I’ll redescend Dishevelment I must attend While philosophically I’ll emend Ignoble degradation
