The Same Line

the leaves turned brown
the days turned cold
the seasons passed
and I grew old

the ground soon turned white
my heart grew more black
each day that passed
left just one more crack

spring came once more
but it brought little hope
step after step
I was learning to cope

the apples were ripe
the flowers grew in
the earth didn't notice
I was alone once again

I lie to myself
I repeat the same line
I'm alone, and you've left me
but I'm healed and I'm fine
