The Sailor I Wait For

I want to be listened to,
now none is near-
I feel threatened,
yet I stay here.

Those arms that hug and sway-
I never thought they'd betray.

The castle of love
I built so high-
I dream a sailor
someday will try.

Far and far I journeyed through-
this road has turned me blue.

I wish the crew could find me safe-
so I still keep his space.

A poignant, metaphor-rich poem of abandonment, vulnerability, and persistent hope. The sailor and crew imagery gives the speaker’s longing a compelling sea-bound journey, while “the castle of love / I built so high” beautifully conveys both devotion and the painful distance that follows betrayal.💔

This means so much — thank you. That gap between devotion and distance in the castle line was exactly what I was chasing. Really glad it landed.
